200 Degrees are specialist coffee roasters that are unashamedly proud to be ‘coffee geeks’ and proprietors of distinctive coffee shops. Their stylish shop on Queen St seats 90 in glorious comfort and serves a selection of coffee, teas and food to eat in or take away. Breakfast is served from 7.30am and the shop is open until 8pm on weekdays, well after many others have closed.
200 Degrees are serious about coffee and recognise that the perfect cup is not just about taste, it’s about doing everything the right way. The finest beans are sourced from Rainforest Alliance suppliers all over the world before being blended and roasted in Nottingham, balancing the flavours whilst still being true to the beans’ identity. To achieve the best complex flavours and aromas, the coffee is roasted slowly and by hand and at 200 Degrees Centigrade. This produces a smoother taste with a deeper body and the freshly roasted beans are packed immediately to lock in the flavour. 200 Degrees coffee shops always serve freshly roasted beans. Upstairs is Cardiff’s only purpose built barista school where 200 Degrees train the baristas of the future or run home brewing classes for customers.
They’re also serious about food and their deli style menu offers unique mouth-watering sandwiches with some simple classics, all prepared on the premises fresh every day from local produce with a distinct New York twist. The menu changes completely every Wednesday without fail and only a couple of breakfast baguettes survive each week. The range of combinations and flavours is part of what makes 200 Degrees a firm favourite for the regular lunchtime crowd or visitors to Cardiff looking for something distinctive and special.
